Understanding the pain points of our customers is one of the main prioritize we as a business have (except running a profitable business, of course).
We now launch the Add & Replace Affiliate Links Plugin – a plugin designed to help you speed up the process of making money with your newly bought website.
How we came up with the plugin
We’ve recently started website flipping (more on that in this post), but this has allowed us to understand what the main pain points our customers phase when they are buying one of our properties.
One thing is that we found extremely time-intensive was to replace affiliate tags. It’s such a time waste to even train a VA to do it, and spend money on that. And it is so extremely simple, so we decided to develop a plugin for it.
Adding/updating affiliate tags in bulk
With the Add & Replace Amazon Affiliate Links Plugin you can replace the current “&tag=ID-20” with your new one. If there are any Amazon links that don’t have a “&tag=ID-20”, these will get a tag and now you will make money from these as well.
What’s even more awesome is that it doesn’t matter if the links are shortened – the plugin automatically replaces these with full URLs and adds your &tag=ID.
The plugin can be used when you buy a new website, but also in case you’ve started one and want to bulk add affiliate links to all.
Download the plugin
The plugin is available on WordPress.org and can be downloaded here.
Or, simply go onto your WordPress site, click “Plugins”, “Add New” and then enter “Add & Replace Affiliate Links for Amazon” – make sure it says “By Hekkup”.
How to use the plugin
- Download the plugin and upload it on your WordPress installation
- Install and activate the plugin
- Go to Add & Replace Affiliate Links for Amazon
- Make a backup by clicking Backup, just in case
- Enter the tracking code and click Update
- Voilá! Your links has now been updated!
Manually check if any problems occurred
Want to check which pages that was edited due to the new tag?
Click Updated Pages in the sidebar (under Add & Replace Amazon Affiliate Tags). Here you can see all URLs that were changed.
Do you see an error?
Click “Restore”, and as long as you clicked “Backup” before updating, it will be restored to the previous version.
If you did not click “Backup”, you will have to go into the page/post revision for each post (manually). Which can be tedious if you have hundreds of posts/pages.
Frequently Asked Questions
What happens if I remove the plugin?
Nothing, the code is changed by the plugin and your tracking code will remain changed forever (you can of course replace it manually if needed).
So you can remove the plugin once you’re done updating/adding. Pretty neat in my opinion!
Does the plugin work on both pages and posts?
Yes, it will replace tags on all URLs on your website where you link to Amazon.
